*This unit was known as Captain Winn’s Company, 1st Battalion, Georgia Cavalry, when it enlisted for six months on October, 1861, and re-enlisted for six months on May 17, 1862. By consolidation it became Company G, 5th Regiment, Georgia Cavalry, on January 20, 1863.

Wounded at Newnan, Georgia, July 28, 1864. Absent, wounded, December 31, 1864. Reported to Colonel Clinch. Remained until ordered to Macon, Georgia. He was at his home in Limestone Springs, Alabama, wounded, at the end of the war.

Williams, A.J. – Private July 1, 1863. Roll dated December 31, 1864, last .on file, shows him Absent Without Leave since November 26, 1864.
Williams, Floyd – Private September 2, 1862. Transferred to Company G, 5th Regiment, Georgia Cavalry, January 20, 1863. Pension records show that he was sent home on 30 days furlough on account of fever in November 1864. His furlough was extended 60 days. He was unable to rejoin his command before it surrendered. Died in Tattnall County, Georgia, in 1920.
Wilson, J.S. – Private May 17,1862. Absent, sick, June 30, 1862. He was discharged when he provided a substitute in August 1862.
Weir, W.C. (or Wier) – Private May 17, 1862. Roll for September-October 1862, last on file, shows him “Present.”
Yeomans, R. (or Redden) – Private July 19, 1862. Transferred to Company G, 5th Regiment, Georgia Cavalry, January 20, 1863. Roll from June 30 to December 31, 1864, last on file, shows him “Absent Without Leave since October.” No later record.
The muster rolls in this appendix of combat organizations from Liberty County, Georgia, during the Civil War are exact copies of those on file in the Georgia Department of Archives and History in Atlanta, Georgia. There is no muster roll for the Home Guards.
