West, Charles (1720-1768)
Son of Samuel and Sarah West, and grandson of Samuel West of South Carolina. He migrated to Liberty County in 1747 and established Westfield Plantation. His wife’s name was Sarah and their children were Elizabeth West, Charles West Jr., Samuel West, and William West. Elizabeth West married Simon Munro. Samuel West never married. Charles West Jr. died a child. William West was the only surviving male heir to the family name.
Simon and Elizabeth West Munro resided on Briar Bay Plantation. Charles West, a physician, and son of William West, married Sarah Evelyn Nephew on January 27, 1814, at Manchester Plantation in McIntosh County, Georgia. Catherine Nephew was a sister of Sarah Evelyn Nephew, and married Barrington King of Liberty County. Mary Lee (John M.) Birmingham is a great-great-granddaughter of Charles and Sarah Evelyn Nephew West, and in 1984 was residing at Lake Forest, Illinois.
