Wheeler, Robert John (Family)
Wheeler, Robert John (1780-1874) – Born in South Carolina. Married Catherine Parmella Bacon (1791-1879), daughter of Thomas and Martha Bacon, in Dorchester, South Carolina, on June 5, 1806. Robert John and Parmella Bacon Wheeler migrated to Liberty County, and received a grant of land between Walthourville and Elim.
At least two of their children were Thomas B. Wheeler and Henry John Ripley Wheeler. Thomas B. and Sarah Wheeler had at least three children, two of whom were Eugene Wheeler and Laura Wheeler. Henry John Ripley and Zilpha Wheeler had six children, and they were Florilla, Catherine, Martha, Sarah, Edmund Bacon, and Henry Ripley Wheeler.
Edmund Bacon Wheeler married Emily Flowers, and their children were Robert T., Charles J., Pauline, Letitia, Eva, Alma, Elizabeth, Eugene Bacon, Newton Mann, and Joseph A. Wheeler. Newton Mann Wheeler (1896-1962) married Maude McAlum, and their child, Randall S. Wheeler married Faye Waters of Bulloch County, Georgia, on January 1, 1945. Their children are Suzette, Terry and Jerry (twins), and Patricia Wheeler.
